  • Update on Kawaii Baby Diapers.

So, it seems that the number one search that has been leading people to my site has been Kawaii Baby.  Well, if I’m going to be drawing people in with that, it seems kinda a dick move to leave you all hanging.  So here is my review of the Kawaii Baby diapers.  We bought the newborn velcro diapers, as seen in this link.   Ebay Link. Note that since this is an ebay link, it will be invalid eventually, but they are white pocket diapers with NO snaps.  If you are looking at Kawaii baby with snaps, different diapers than what I am reviewing.  They seemed to work great, the glass of water test had them soaking up water quickly right off the bat, the fleece did its job leaving the pad soaked and the inside of the diaper dry as a bone.  BUT, the leg elastic seems a bit sloppy, and since my son has chicken legs, there was a bit of a gap.  so, out of 12 test diaperings, he leaked all over mommy and daddy 9 times.  most of the fluid still went into the pad, but enough leaked out.  If your kid has larger legs, or is up around 11-12 pounds when you start using them, you should be fine.  As for us?  I’m buying some prefolds, and using the Kawaii baby as spill pads and diaper covers.

Our son was brought into the world, kicking and screaming the whole way, at 9 am on Friday the 21st.  Nice and healthy, 9 and 10 apgar.  Alexander came a bit early,  but Lynn is just happy to have an outside baby. Updates will be a bit sparse.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a bit. Life has been busy. Good things, see next post. Ugh Things…

Lynn works a summer job, every summer for about a decade now. She’s a lifeguard. (I know. Did I win the wife lotto or what?) Shes been bumped up the ranks to managerial type status the past few years. But since shes due at the end of the summer, they are being pains.

Now, I understand them being worried about her being able to do the job, and verifying with her OB. But we’ve done that. Had the OB fill out their paperwork, saying, yeah, she should be able to do this until she pops. They are still giving her a hassle, dragging their heels, threatening to put her “on call” which means she would work maybe one or two days the whole summer, when no one else at all was available.

They actually used this line. “What if a patron sees a pregnant guard, manager or not? They might feel less safe.” THE HELL?
Sigh. And its not the money. Not JUST the money, I should say. The extra cash in savings will make the lack of money coming in in the fall a LOT easier to handle for a while, but still. Its the principle, the fact that a job she loves doing, one that actually REDUCES her stress and would keep her getting just the right amount of movement and exercise, is being denied to her for shitty reasons. Sigh.
So, anyone else have discrimination of yourself or your partner during a pregnancy? Lets hear from you!

  • Things are calming down a bit.

Still a little tense. The cramps have faded back down, and the bleeding stopped. It seems that she just REALLY pulled some muscles along her gut.
Food still comes and goes. Goes in large part.
I’ve been working on more simple meal preparations, less spice, less sauce. Finer pieces. Things like that. Seems to be helping.
Also, based on a suggestion from the nurse, instead of juice, we are having Lynn drink gatorade, watered down by half. It seems to be helping a lot. Apparently, morning sickness can be caused by spikes in blood sugar, and sipping watered down gatorade helps prevent the sudden drops that cause nausea.

  • ER room visit…

So I get a text while I’m at work, “Ellen is taking me to the emergency room. Bad cramps”. Yeah… not good. Ellen is Lynn’s sister, by the way. Turns out that at work she was having more bleeding and cramps, and, shortly after getting home, had a cramp SO BAD that she was bent over in pain and couldn’t move for several minutes.
Wracked with fear, I still had to finish off my work shift. They wouldn’t let me go early, as we were slammed with calls.
Busing to the hospital took an extra hour. By the I get there, they’ve poked, prodded, given some tylenol, and put her in a gown, hanging out with her sister in a room. The bleeding had slowed, but not stopped.

They did an ultrasound, and everything looked fine with the baby, thank god. In fact, the raver continues, as the SeaMonkey was jumping up and down, waving its arms in the air, and “lifting the roof”.
The ultrasound tech then took a look at other things inside, ovaries, ect. The final diagnosis? We’re clueless, but the baby’s fine. Talk to your ob when you can. So yay baby is okay, boo Lynn has serious muscle issues.
